This project celebrates Australian women photographers, and the work of 100 women is included in the show which was launched in Canberra on International Womens Day. The mission is to inspire and empower women and girls. The two creators of the project realise that the photographic and visual arts industry is still male dominated in many areas, and they wanted to do something positive to redress this imbalance. The 100 works will be printed in a book, which will become part of the National Library of Australia, Australian Contemporary Publications Collection.
Susan Belperio has tried the high end of art. Now she’s aiming for the bottom. Specifically, your bottom. Enter the funny dunny where you can see one of Susan's prized photographic collections: a cornucopia of crappers. From Alice Springs to Africa, from Nepal to the middle of nowhere, this is a fair spread of iconic outback sh*thouses. We're not bullsh*tting you – this exhibition is in a real functioning toilet. Sh*thouse or arthouse? Cringeworthy or Fringeworthy? You decide. This exhibition is made on 100% recycled toilet paper, and Susan's 100% recycled hopes and dreams of becoming a real artist.
An initiative of Doctor’s Health SA, the ‘Art of Medicine’ Exhibition features artworks by a variety of doctors, who maintain an artistic practice to complement, enhance, or sometimes eclipse their medical career. Art can be all-consuming and demanding, not dissimilar to the rigours of the medical profession. The artists in ‘Art of Medicine’ have all come to art through different avenues, some creating work as a hobby while others have plunged head-first into life as a practicing artist. 'Art in Medicine' shows us the ingenuity of the doctor/artist through a range of contemporary and mixed-media artworks.
